Program details

The Elder Abuse Consultation Team responds to complex elder abuse cases. We consult with community agencies in an advisory capacity to provide respectful options that can improve the situation of older adults and allow them the right to live in a safe environment.

By working with community agencies in an advisory capacity the Elder Abuse Consultation Team aims to:

  • Assist with difficult cases AT ANY STAGE OF ENGAGEMENT
  • Develop statistical profiles on the types of cases presented to the Team
  • Track the results of suggested options
  • Develop evidence-based material to support others in similar situations
  • Provide advice between team meetings to concerned community agencies
  • Report the activities of the Team to various stakeholders
  • Be aware of cultural issues in the determination of options

The Team accepts cases from community and hospital based agencies.

Team meetings take place Fridays, once a month at Family Service Toronto central office, 355 Church Street (Church & Carlton).
Meeting dates for January-December 2012: Jan 20, Feb 24, Mar 23, Apr 20, May 25, Jun 22, Jul 13, Aug 24, Sep 21, Oct 19, Nov 16, Dec 14.
