Who Can Use Options?
Options is one of many programs offered by the Family Service Toronto, a leading non-profit, social service agency. We provide free services to people living in Toronto who have a developmental disability and their families. We provide service in English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Hungarian, Polish and Hebrew.
There are three ways to receive service from Options:
If you have a child with a developmental disability 0-17 years you can contact us directly by calling our Intake Coordinator Paula Alves at 416.971.6326 x326 or email: paulaal@familyservicetoronto.org.
If you have a dependent adult child 18 + with a developmental disability go to the Developmental Services Toronto (DSTO) website - Partner Agency page http://www.dsto.com/agency.html. Once there, use the form that helps you to search for agencies that provide the services you need in your area.
Call us if Family Service Toronto appears listed as a result of your search. If not, call one of the agencies that are listed once you submit your data.
You will find more information about this process on-line: http://www.dsto.com/howtoapply.html.
If you are an adult living independently or want to live independently within a year call Community Living Toronto at 416 963 8656 ext. 232 (for male applicants) and ext. 231 (for female applicants) for intake and you’ll be assigned with an Adult Protective Service Worker (APSW) which can be from FST- Options or another agency. Family Service Toronto is one of four agencies that provide APSW services. You will be assigned to the agency that provides the services you need in your area. Read APSW brochure to learn more
